Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Return Policy

Veterans Press takes the privacy of its customers as serious as we do HIPAA Privacy Regulations. Please read the following policy to understand how we will treat your personal information when you use our site. If this policy changes, then we will let you know through this page and will give you the opportunity to opt out of any changes that affect you. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our website periodically. Our postal address is Veterans Press, 121 W. 63rd Street, Suite 209, Kansas City, KS 64113; our email address is hipaa@veteranspress.com; and our office numbers are 855-341-8783 (phone) or 913-385-7997 (fax).

What Information Do We Collect?

When you use services on the site, we will require information about you to fulfill your request. This information may include, but is not limited to, such details as your name, your address, and your credit card information obtained during checkout. When you provide this information to us, you can choose not to receive additional emails, postal mail, faxes, or telephone contact from us by selecting the appropriate options on the web page. When you view our site by linking from another webpage, we may store the URL of that webpage for purposes of internal administration.

We also collect general data about the computer that you are connecting from, such as IP address, browser type, and so forth, and the movement of visitors through our site, but this process does not use any personally identifiable information. We use this information to improve website structure and content.

Cookies

Cookies are small amounts of information that are sent from a web server to your browser and stored on your computer’s hard drive and contain information as to the internet sites that you have visited.

We may use cookies to store and sometimes track information about you and to personalize your contact with us.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent this occurrence, although you may not be able to access some parts of our site without them.

How do we use the collected Information?

We will use the information that you give us within Veterans Press and its associated companies, including any subsidiaries, alliances, and/or joint ventures that we may establish and EMR Legal (our HIPAA consulting company) for the following purposes:
  • To notify you occasionally about important changes to our site and new services and about publications that may be of interest to you. If you would rather not receive this information, write to us at the above address or email us at hipaa@veteranspress.com.
  • To provide some services free of charge. To pay the bills, we may display advertisements. By knowing our users, we are able to deliver specific advertisements and content.

We use return email addresses to answer the email that we receive. We do not at this time use email addresses for any other purpose, although we may in the future begin using them for marketing our latest books, other HIPAA & HITECH compliance tools, and new postings on the HIPAA & HITECH Act blog by Jon Tomes. We do not share email addresses with outside parties.

We do not sell, trade, or rent to others the information that we obtain from you on this site.

We do share statistical information with other organizations as part of our marketing. These statistics will not include any personal identifying information. We collect this information by monitoring traffic on the site and by using anonymous data. We can then construct a specific interest group, which assists us in improving and marketing our site.

With respect to ad servers, we do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies.

Where links to other sites appear on our site, the content of those linked sites is not covered by this privacy policy. These other sites will have separate privacy and data collection practices. We do not have responsibility or liability for these independent policies.

We may disclose information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is as follows:

  • Reasonably necessary to comply with the law.
  • To enforce or apply our terms of business.
  • To protect our rights and those of our users.

Security

All of the data that we collect from you on our site is protected against unauthorized access. During checkout, your personal information is encoded using SSL (secure sockets layer) technology by the browser before being sent over the internet. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site. Further, although our site gathers credit card information, it does not actually store it in the database. Our servers have been verified by an outside agency to be PCI compliant, which requires that no credit card information is permanently stored on the server. So although we do have credit card information temporarily when the user submits it, that credit card information is then passed on to the credit card processing company and never stored in our databases.

If you believe that we hold incorrect information regarding you, we will correct any such error upon written request. Please contact us by mail, telephone, fax, or email.
