New Notice of Privacy Practices Reflecting Omnibus Rule Now on Premium Member Section: HIPAA & HITECH Act Blog by Jonathan P. Tomes

JonTomesOne of our clients recently asked whether we had a sample Notice of Privacy Practices updated to reflect the Omnibus Rule changes. Now, we do, and it is available for you on the Premium Member section of the Veterans Press website. If you have the 5th edition of my HIPAA Documents Resource Center CD, you will find on it a Notice of Information Practices. In addition to other content updates, this new version has a new name, Notice of Privacy Practices, to reflect what many in the field now call it.

I updated it in several areas, including marketing, and I have offered specific examples. Please note that this updated sample Notice of Privacy Practices is just that, a sample. It is only a guide to get you started with developing a HIPAA compliant notice of privacy practices. It may need editing/additions/deletions to make it apply to your situation. As with any sample of this nature, qualified legal counsel should review and approve the final version. Also, some covered entities like to put the effective date of the policy or notice in a footer on every page so that people will know whether they have the latest version.

Again, as a reminder, if you bought the HIPAA Compliance Library that includes my 5th edition of the Compliance Guide to HIPAA and the DHHS Regulations, you received with it a one-year free subscription to the Premium Member section. If you need help setting up your account to access the Premium Member section, please call our marketing director, Patrick R. Head II, toll-free at 855-341-8783 or email him at patrick@veteranspress.com.
