“What Lawyers Need to Know about Recent HIPAA Changes,” New Article Posted on Premium Member Section: HIPAA & HITECH Act Blog by Jonathan P. Tomes

A couple of months ago, Gene Barton, an attorney at Karr Tuttle Campbell in Seattle and editor of the King County Bar Association Bar Bulletin, noticed that I was scheduled to present a webinar on HIPAA for MentorHealth and asked whether I would consider writing an article on recent HIPAA changes that attorneys should know about for the Bar Bulletin. Never one to resist a chance to speak or write, as my editor of almost three decades is quick to point out, I immediately accepted his invitation to write an article. It appeared in the October 2013 issue of the Bar Bulletin and is now reprinted with permission and available for you to read on the Premium Member section of the Veterans Press website. The article addresses general issues among HIPAA changes as they apply to attorneys—and not just health lawyers.
