A couple of months ago, Gene Barton, an attorney at Karr Tuttle Campbell in Seattle and editor of the King County Bar Association Bar Bulletin, noticed that I was scheduled to present a webinar on HIPAA for MentorHealth and asked whether I would consider writing an article on recent HIPAA changes that attorneys should know about for the Bar Bulletin. Never one to resist a chance to speak or write, as my editor of almost three decades is quick to point out, I immediately accepted his invitation to write an article. The article addresses general issues among HIPAA changes as they apply to attorneys—and not just health lawyers.
